UNANIMOUS VERDICT IN FOUR WEEK DEFAMATION TRIAL

 Sutton v. Lerner KKC 04-2-23558-8 KNT

            Colleen Barrett obtained a unanimous verdict from a King County jury in a defamation action.  Faced with an undue influence suit arising from an annuity beneficiary change, the other side sued Colleen’s clients. Claiming the client’s communications concerning  annuity beneficiary change were defamatory, they demanded millions of dollars in damages.  After a four week trial, the jury soundly rejected those claims, entering a unanimous defense verdict in less than three hours.
